About
Cathedral Healthcare System
Established in 1980 as Health Corporation of the Archdiocese
of Newark and renamed in 1987, Cathedral Healthcare System today delivers
a comprehensive range of services — from primary and emergency care
to such specialized services as minimally invasive cardiac surgery, state-of-the-art
cancer care, gastrointestinal capsule endoscopy, rapid HIV testing, mental
health care, and breast cancer screening, treatment, and outreach.
Saint Michael’s Medical Center, a premier teaching
hospital and a pioneer in cardiac care, maintains the world’s largest
infectious disease network and is the principal site for HIV/AIDS research
in New Jersey.
At Cathedral Healthcare
System, we remain committed to our vital mission: to minister to those
in need of healing according to the example of Christ as taught in the
Gospel; to foster the values of love, compassion, justice, and reverence
for life; and to support health services that improve or maintain the
quality of life.
